REF: USDOC BIS OEA Email, dated Mar 6, 2009
1. Ref email requested that post conduct 4 post-shipment
verifications at Everex Global Cargo Courier, Dubai Airport
FreeZone, UAE for the shipment of numerous Sony computer systems
exported as No License Required by Advance Computer of Mineoloa, New
York.
2. On March 11, 2009 Export Control Officer (ECO) met with Mr. Jerry
Ancil, Everex Global Cargo and Courier at their Dubai Airport Free
Zone office warehouse. Ancil stated that Everex Global is a freight
forwarding company that specializes in the trans-shipment of goods
primarily to Iran but does ship elsewhere in the region. Ancil
explained that the point of contact listed in documentation for the
4 shipments in question, Mr. Nima Sabri, is currently in Tehran,
Iran for the next month or so. Ancil stated that Sabri is an Iranian
and is also the Managing Director of Everex Global.
3. ECO had provided Ancil with the airway bill numbers and shipment
dates for the 4 transactions. Ancil said he was still trying to
determine the disposition of these shipments. Ancil queried if there
was a problem. ECO advised that shipment of U.S. origin items to
certain destinations including Iran was prohibited by U.S. export
control regulations. Ancil said that if he was able to obtain
additional information regarding these transactions he would be in
touch.
4. The circumstances outlined above suggest that Everex Global Cargo
and Courier is an unreliable recipient of U.S. origin items.
