(C/NF) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash
offered a bit more detail to the Ambassador on the recent (February
7) travel of Foreign Minister Abdullah to Doha, the primary purpose
of which was to get an assurance that the Qataris would not invite
Iran's Ahmadinejad or Hamas' Khaled Meshal to the late March Arab
League summit. The Qataris were prepared to give this assurance,
according to Gargash, on condition that there would be no public
humiliation for Qatar. (Presumably that means that the assurance
itself must remain private.)
