1. (SBU) On November 15, POLOFF delivered Ref A demarche to the
Director General of the National Transport Authority Dr. Nasser Saif
Al Mansoori, who said the UAE would "definitely" support the U.S.
candidacy for a seat on the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
Council in Category A, as it did in 2007.
2. (SBU) Al Mansoori restated the UAE's case (Ref B) for a seat on
the IMO Council in Category C and again requested a pledge of U.S.
support for its candidacy.
