(C) Acting Political Counselor delivered points from reftel to Ambassador Vladimir Matek, the Foreign Minister's advisor for UNSC, on August 14. Matek stated that the points about engaging Russia would be communicated immediately to the appropriate officials in the GOC. He explained that holiday season was complicating Croatia's response to events in Georgia since President Mesic, Prime Minister Sanader, and Foreign Minister Jandrokovic were all out of Zagreb on vacation. (Note: August 15 is an official Croatian holiday. End Note.) He said, however, that the GOC had had a conference call this morning, led by Sanader, during which Croatia decided to send 150,000 euros worth of assistance to Georgia through the Red Cross.
