Pol officer delivered information (ref A and B) about Global
Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) to Sanja Bujas Juraga Head
of Department for the Directorate for International
Organizations and Security. Juraga noted that the Croatian
Sabor had recently re-authorized Croatia's peacekeeping
deployments to Afghanistan, Chad, and Kosovo (ref C). She
welcomed the information about GPOI as a positive development
for Croatia's peacekeeping efforts. She anticipated no
barriers to the further development of the program. However,
she wanted to discuss GPOI with the Ministry of Defense (MOD)
before she would confirm Croatia's willingness to accept the
terms and conditions of the 2007 Agreement. Once the GOC
confirms it willingness to accept the terms and conditions of
the 2007 Agreement post will deliver the diplomatic note (ref
B).
