In response to reftel, Embassy Zagreb provides the following information on its work on energy matters in Croatia. --A. The Economic Section of the Embassy handles energy matters. The total number of staff in this section is 3 American officers and one Locally Engaged Staff. --B. One Economic Officer devotes 20% of his time to work on energy matters and another spends 5% of her time on such work. Time spent on energy matters by the Economic Counselor, OMS and FSN are negligible. --C. The Economic Section Head reports on and monitors developments in the energy industries, including advocating policies that support U.S. objectives on European energy diversification. An economic officer reports on Croatia's renewable energy sector. --D. The amount of State Department funds spent at post in FY 2007 on energy-related activities were as follows: ---personnel: $19,675.95 ---programs: $ 3,477.41 (total cost of two conferences; one attended by Amb. in Istanbul and one attended by Economic Section Head in Sofia) Bradtke
