(S) Poland will consider our request to accept Palestinian
Guantanamo detainee 049 but was non-committal concerning a
final decision. Artur Orzechowski, Director of the Americas
Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told us
October 15 that he would discuss our request with senior MFA
officials, including FM Radoslaw Sikorski. Apart from asking
whether the U.S. had sought or intended to seek the
assistance of other governments in accepting this detainee,
Orzechowski did not comment further.
