Navikas confirmed to Post November 6 that Lithuania will not
join the expected consensus at next week's GAERC on resuming
post-PCA negotiations with Russia. The Lithuanian Government
understands the number of EU allies wishing to delay
resumption is dwindling but the Lithuanians are still against
resuming talks with Russia and can not bring themselves to
join any consensus agreeing to do so. Despite this stand,
Navikas said he fully expects France will find some way of
dealing with the lack of consensus procedurally and the EU
will resume post-PCA negotiations in any event.
