(C) Vytautas Leskevicius, Director of the MFA's Security
Policy Department, told us July 11 that the GOL will maintain
the current number of its Lithuanian trainers in support of
NATO Training Mission-Iraq (NTM-I). Leskevicius also said
the GOL is considering making a financial contribution to the
training mission trust fund of EUR 50,000-100,000. Given our
ongoing discussions with the GOL about its future MNF-I
mission (ref B),we thanked Leskevicius for the GOL's
willingness to consider a new financial contribution, and
asked that these two issues be kept separate.
