Ziugzda said July 10 that the GOL welcomes the new USG policy
on the use of cluster munitions, specifically the reliability
criteria (ref a),and our engagement in negotiating the new
draft Protocol for the Convention on Conventional Weapons
(CCW) in Geneva. Ziugzda also commented on the recently
concluded Oslo Agreement (ref b) saying that while it is not
realistic to expect a total ban on the use of cluster
munitions, he still hopes the Oslo text will "positively"
impact current Protocol discussions in Geneva.
