(SBU) Acting EconPol Counselor delivered reftel points on
January 4 to Hans Bilek from the MFA's Middle East and Africa
Division. Describing the situation in Pakistan as
"critical," Bilek said that the GoA supported the USG's
position calling for peaceful transition to a
democratically-elected government. Bilek noted that the EU
Political Directors would discuss the issue next week, and it
would most likely be an agenda item at the January 28 GAERC.
