(C) Polchief discussed reftel points October 16 with Isabel
Rauscher, MFA Department Head for the Americas. Rauscher
said she would discuss with MFA colleagues the possibility of
accepting the Palestinian detainee. She asked whether there
was something specific in the detainee's background that
would make it unsafe for him to return to the Gaza Strip
under Hamas rule. Polchief replied that he did not have more
details about the detainee's background, but could provide
more information if the GOA were willing to consider
accepting him.
