LEAD STORIES: Lead stories on Friday morning included an informal decision by the Japan Patent Office to recognize commercial footage and phrases as trademarks. ¶2. "Calls for Change Mounting in Iran in View of Obama Victory" A correspondent for the top-circulation, centrist Yomiuri wrote from Tehran (12/5): "Calls are mounting within Iran, particularly among reformers, for 'change' in domestic politics, in an apparent response to the election of Sen. Obama as U.S. President. With the Iranian presidential election planned next June, Iranian conservatives are wary about the poll possibly being contested over 'political change.'... The conservatives and moderates in Iran are apparently engaging in a battle over the 'pro-change' sentiment that was brought on from the U.S., with which Tehran severed diplomatic ties years ago."
