(C) On March 3, Mr. Ard van der Vorst, Coordinator for
Political Affairs tin the Western Balkans Division at the
Dutch MFA, told poloff that the Dutch cabinet had instructed
FM Verhagen to recognize Kosovo. The Cabinet made the
decision Friday, February 29. Van der Vorst was not sure
whether the public announcement would be March 4 or 5 but
thought it would be "within 24 hours or so." Also March 3,
EU Correspondent Desiree Kopmels said a decision on Kosovo
independence was not public but would be announced "soon."
