(SBU) On June 11, per reftel, Post delivered a paper and
request for a meeting between Ambassador Norland, Russian
Ambassador Mukhametshin, and an appropriate senior Government
of Uzbekistan official, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(MFA) of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The paper--coordinated
with the Russian Embassy--encourages Uzbekistan to join the
Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, provides
background on the Initiative, and informs Uzbekistan of the
upcoming meeting in Spain. Umid Shadiev at MFA's Americas
Desk confirmed receipt of the documents.
