1. (U) We received MFA diplomatic note No. 11/22130 dated
August 25 in which the GOU informs us that it will support
the U.S. nominee, Dr. Christopher Field, to serve as co-chair
of Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change.
2. (U) The following is an unofficial translation of the
substantive paragraph of the diplomatic note:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States
of America in Tashkent, and in response to Embassy's
diplomatic note No. 970/08 dated 08/07/2008, has the honor to
inform that Uzbekistan will support the U.S. nomination in
the elections during the 29th session of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which will
be held in Geneva (Switzerland) on August 31 - September 4,
2008.
