for Reasons 1.4 (b) and (d).
(S) On July 3, Hakan Rooth, Deputy Director of the MFA
Department for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, told us
that Sweden continues to inspect IRISL vessels whenever
there is reason to believe that an aircraft or vessel is
transporting goods prohibited by UNSCRs 1803, 1737 or 1747.
He stated that Sweden will continue to exercise vigilance
with regard to IRISL-related transport of goods through
Swedish jurisdiction and scrutinize the financial support for
such transfers. He thanked the U.S. for providing
information about interdictions of IRISL cargo involving
designated entities in 2007. Rooth added that he will share
this information with colleagues in other Swedish agencies
and would encourage companies doing business with IRISL to
practice due diligence in their dealings with the company.
