The United States applauds the Government of Peru's previous service on the Security Council in the 2006-2007 period and its contributions to collective security and peacekeeping operations. The United States appreciates Peru's firm dedication to the strengthening of multilateral dialogue and international cooperation, as well as the protection of international peace and security. The United States is pleased that Peru wishes to again participate actively in the United Nations as a member of the Security Council. We welcome the opportunity to consider Peru's candidacy for the Security Council.
