¶1. Please deliver the following message from the
Secretary to Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas. The
Department of State does not plan to release the text of
the message but has no objection if the Government of
Lithuania wishes to do so. There will be no signed
original.
¶2. Begin Text:
Dear Mr. Minister:
Please accept my congratulations on your appointment as
Foreign Minister of Lithuania. I know of and appreciate
your personal commitment to the close ties between our
countries. We deeply value this relationship, grounded
in our shared democratic values.
I am confident that the United States and Lithuania will
continue to work closely as allies and friends on the
challenges we face together in Europe, Afghanistan, and
throughout the world.
