FUSION MINT 09-01
REF: A. KUALA LUMPUR 963 B. 08 STATE 119643
1. (SBU) The Department of State reviewed its files and finds that,
to date, it possesses no credible information of gross human rights
violations for the unit and commander listed below. The unit and
commander are candidates for participation in the Fusion Mint 09-01
training exercise scheduled from February 23 through March 13, 2009
in Tawau, Sabah. Joint Naval Special Warfare Unit - One will conduct
the training. This cable corrects the language to provide a clearance
for both unit and commander provided below rather than an individual
clearance in reftel B.
2. (U) UNIT AND COMMANDER:
Unit: Royal Malaysian Marine Police
Commander: Isa bin Munir; DOB: 08-Jun-56; POB: Segamat, Johor,
Malaysia
3. (U) Post may provide the following statement to authorized
parties: Embassy verifies that the Department of State possesses no
credible information of gross violations of human rights by the unit
and commander identified in the paragraph above, as of this date.
Post may cite this cable in response.
4. (U) If, in the future, post becomes aware of possible human rights
violations by the unit and commander listed above, post should inform
the Department and not proceed with training.
