¶1. (C) Department read reftel with great interest and
requests that post approach the OIC Secretary General to
ensure that the account opened to streamline OIC member
states' donations for humanitarian relief to Gaza be
coordinated with the Fayyad government. The account should
not undermine the legitimate authority of the Palestinian
Authority government by being used to support Hamas.
¶2. (SBU) The USG shares the OIC's deep concern about the
humanitarian situation in Gaza. NEA/IPA will separately
forward to post additional background on USG humanitarian
activities in Gaza.
