This is an Action Request. See paragraphs 2 - 4. ¶2. The Department's Office of Defense Trade Controls Compliance (PM/DTCC) requests Post's assistance in conducting a pre-license check on license 050125018 for the export of pistols to India. Post is requested to complete this Blue Lantern check within 30 days. Lack of response to a Blue Lantern check will affect pending and future licenses involving parties to this license. ¶3. Reason for Request: An amendment to the import authorization issued by the Government of India indicates that this transaction originally involved Sig Sauer, Germany. The Government of Germany did not authorize export for this transaction, which led the end-user to amend the import authorization to list Sig Sauer, USA as the source. This check is to establish the bona fides of this transaction and the parties involved. ¶4. Action Request: Post is requested to establish the bona fides of these transactions by making appropriate inquires to authorities of the Government of India. In its reply, Post may also comment on any other information pertinent to these transactions such as security of facilities, end-use, concerns about the entities involved, and any reasons that export authorization may have been denied. ¶5.
