(C) We delivered reftel demarche points to MFA NATO and
International Security Directorate desk officer Gergana
Velichkova on January 25. Velichkova noted Bulgaria's main
concern was Kosovo and would seek "solidarity" from EU
partners on likely Serb retaliation for recognition of
Kosovo. Bulgaria also wanted "quick adoption of documents to
provide a sound legal basis" for deployment of the ESDP
mission. Velichkova said both FM Kalfin and Minister for
European Integration Grancharova would attend. FM Kalfin
will provide a readout on Iranian FM Motakki's January 22
visit to Sofia at the luncheon.
