Embassy Sofia E-Gram No. 6 "Bulgaria marks the 16 days of
activism to eliminate violence against women with creative
anti-trafficking campaign." The 16 day campaign served as a
opportunity to raise the profile of an important partner, the
National Anti-trafficking Commission, and push our agenda to
protect women from all forms of violence, including sexual
exploitation and trafficking. The EMBASSY partnered with the
Commission to organize several events, including a campaign
kick-off press conference, a presentation at a conference on
prostitution, and the debut of the USAID-funded film, "Not My
Life." The grand finale of the joint campaign was the
Bulgarian premier of the documentary film, Cargo: Innocence
Lost, by U.S. director Michael Cory Davis to a full house,
combined with an award ceremony for a Bulgarian prosecutor
for her efforts to combat human trafficking.
