1. (SBU) Poloff encouraged MFA State Counselor for
Multilateral Affairs Svetlana Geleva to ensure Macedonia's
timely submission of its Annual Declaration (AD) on space and
ballistic missile policies under the Hague Code of Conduct
Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCOC),per reftel.
Geleva is aware of the simplified "nil" form, and plans to
submit it before the March deadline. Geleva requested a copy
of the "nil" form, and we have followed reftel's instructions
for obtaining a copy from ISN/MTR.
2. (U) In a follow-up call after the meeting, Geleva noted
that when reviewing materials on the State Department website
related to the HCOC, she found that Macedonia was listed
under "The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" at the site
www.state.gov/t/isn/rls/fs/27799.htm and asked that it be
corrected to "Republic of Macedonia." Action request:
Embassy recently has been in contact with the Department in
order to update our official records and public documents to
reflect the U.S. recognition of the constitutional name,
"Republic of Macedonia." We ask that this name also be used
in all State Department websites.
