1. In response to reftel, Embassy Santo Domingo does not have
current (or future) programs or outreach efforts to assist
the indigenous population of the Dominican Republic. While
there are some renewed historical and cultural interest among
scholars and academics in the country's indigenous Taino
population, the country does not have a significant
population that identifies as Taino or other indigenous
group. Post does not have information on local indigenous
group interlocutors or GODR reaction to the passage of UN
DRIP.
