1. On May 30th, post received a copy of the April 2 judicial
decision of the 12th Justice of Peace Roberto Carlos Calderon
Escobar, regarding the USG request for extradition of Jose
Marvin Martinez. Justice Calderon did not grant a special
hearing as requested by defense attorney Jose Ricardo
Martinez Escobar since the parties had already expressed
their arguments in writing.
2. Martinez was arrested in Sonsonate, El Salvador on January
11, 2008 per a USG extradition request. On January 16 the
court affirmed the seizure of several items in the
fugitive,s possession at the time of the arrest (reftel).
In March, Justice Calderon granted three working days to the
parties, once they have been summoned, to provide written
statements regarding the US extradition request.
