The GOES asks that we support its candidacy to the Board of Directors of the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Fund for Population Affairs (UNDP/ UNFPA). ¶2. (U) Text follows: (NON OFFICIAL TRANSLATION) MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR SECRETARY OF STATE SIPDIS THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR presents its compliments to the Honorable Embassy of the United States of America, in the occasion of letting it know that El Salvador has presented its candidacy to the Board of Directors of the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Fund for Population Affairs (UNDP/ UNFPA),for the period of 2011-2013. The election will take place in May 2010 in New York. El Salvador was a member of this Board from 2003-2005 and the Government of El Salvador expresses its will to continue collaborating in the coordination of national and global efforts to promote sustainable development and to reach the millennium challenges, with particular emphasis in the reduction of poverty by the year 2015. The Government of El Salvador would like to thank the Government of the United States of America for its valuable support in favor of this candidacy.
