1. (U) This is an action request. Please see paragraph 2.
2. (U) Post received August 15 a diplomatic note from the
GOES soliciting our support for El Salvador's candidacy to
the Commission on the Legal and Social Condition of Women for
the 2010 ) 2014 term in the election that will take place
May 2009 in New York. Post requests instructions for a
response to the MFA once Department provides voting
instructions to USUN.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El
Salvador ) Director General of Foreign Policy, presents its
compliments to the Honorable Embassy of the United States of
America, on the occasion of informing that El Salvador has
presented its candidacy for the Commission on the Legal and
Social Condition of Women for the 2010 ) 2014 term, whose
election will take place on May 2009, in New York.
The Government of the Republic of El Salvador gives
fundamental importance to the subject matter of the
Commission on the Legal and Social Condition of Women, and
for this reason considers it of vital importance to
contribute in a determined manner to the work of this
important United Nations Commission.
The Government of El Salvador will greatly appreciate the
important support of the Government of the United States of
America in favor of this candidacy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El
Salvador ) Director General of Foreign Policy, avails itself
of this opportunity to renew to the Honorable Embassy of the
United States of AMERICA the assurances of its highest and
most distinguished consideration.
