officer Michele Tomassi January 10. Tomassi shared the
points with MFA Middle East Director Cesare Ragaglini and
told poloff January 17 that Italy shared USG concerns, and
would be instructing their mission to the EU to support
EU-wide statements and/or actions in support of the Syrian
human rights and democracy activists. Tomassi explained that
the GOI's policy was to coordinate all human rights related
activities/statements through the EU in order to send a
stronger message.
