SUBJECT: LEAHY VETTING FOR ITALIAN PARTICIPANTS IN
SOVEREIGN CHALLENGE CONFERENCE
1. (U) In accordance with Leahy Vetting requirements, post
has conducted a review of available information on the
Italian Military Officers who have been selected as potential
attendees at the the 4th Annual Sovereign Challenge Foreign
Military AttachQ (FMA) conference 17-20 November 2008 at
Hurlburt Field, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, sponsored by U. S.
Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Upon conclusion of the
review, post has determined that it possesses no credible
evidence of gross violations of human rights by the following
Italian military officers (all of whom are attaches
accredited to Washington D.C.) as of 15 October 2008:
Mirco Zuliani, Brigadier General, Defense Attache and Defense
Cooperation Chief. (A graduate of the War College and
therefore previously vetted);
Pietro Serino, Brigadier General, Defense Attache;
Maurizio Ertreo, Captain, Naval Attache
Giorgio Russo, Colonel, Air Attache
Giovanni Adamo, LtCol, Asst Defense Attache
Enrico Rinaldi, LtCol, Asst Military Attache
Lorenzo Poliseno, LCdr, Asst Naval Attache
Antonio Genzano, LtCol, Asst Air Attache
