1. (U) Post delivered reftel A demarche on uranium
shipments to Iran to Roberto Liotto of the Italian Ministry
of Foreign Affairs (MFA). According to Liotto, the Ministry
of Trade and the MFA work in concert to ensure that no
Italian company exports Uranium to Iran or to other
"countries in the region" that could act as conduits for
Iran. Liotto promised that the demarche whitepaper would be
circulated within the Ministry of Trade and the Italian
Customs administration.
2. (U) EconOff delivered reftel B invitation for two
Italian participants for the International Export Control
conference in Croatia from 20-22 October. While its
composition has not been finalized, Liotto was confident the
GOI would send a delegation.
