(C) In response to reftel points, MFA Acting UN Office
Director Leonardo Bencini confirmed Italy's support for the
French draft UN Security Council Resolution on the conflict
in Georgia. He said he was unsure of the current state of
play in New York among Council members who remained wary of
the resolution, and agreed that the Council needed to send a
message that was as unanimous as possible.
