(C) In response to ref A questions on Latvian future plans in
Iraq, we believe much of this is covered in ref B. We
approached Latvian MOD officials regarding whether Latvia
would be interested in benefiting as a third party to a
US-Iraq Defense Cooperation Agreement. Our contacts were
interested in the concept but said that they would need to
see a specific text before deciding whether to request third
party coverage under the agreement and asked to be kept
informed as this moves forward.
