PolEcon Off met with Captain Aigars Krastins, Director of the
Transportation Ministry's Maritime Department, on July 2. Krastins
stated that he had reviewed the Global Maritime Partnership (GMP)
documentation, and that Latvia would like to be a GMP participant.
He qualified that by saying that his department is understaffed and
that he did not know at this moment how Latvia could participate,
but he stated that his office fully supports the initiative.
