(C) Political Officer delivered the reftel demarches to Mr.
David Maseck, the Czech MFA's Director for Non-Proliferation,
on December 17 and to Mr. Petr Chalupecky, the MFA's Deputy
Director for Security Policy, on December 19. Chalupecky and
Maseck both appreciated receiving the points and understood
our concerns related to the Convention on Cluster Munitions
(CCM),but felt that the treaty's existing provisions should
address our concerns regarding inter-operability with our
NATO allies. They both confirmed that Foreign Minister
Schwarzenberg signed the CCM in Oslo on December 3.
