(C) According to Czech MFA South and South East Europe
Officer Josef Zrzavecky, the Czech Republic plans to abstain
October 8 on the Serbian UNGA resolution to refer a question
on the legality of Kosovo's declaration of independence to
the International Court of Justice. Zrzavecky said the Czech
MFA shares our perspective that this Serbian resolution is
unhelpful. He also commented that his Director as well as
others within the MFA recommended to Minister Schwarzenberg
that the Czechs send a strong message and vote against this
resolution. Schwarzenberg, however, is aware that most of
the EU member states plan to abstain and he has decided to
take this position as well.
