(SBU) Czech MFA Department of Human Rights and Transition
Policy officer, Olga Hajeflerova, affirmed that the GOCR
shares USG concerns that pressure must remain on the Burmese
regime for full access to affected areas and faster
processing of travel permits. Hajeflerova noted that during
internal EU discussions, the Czechs have continued to
emphasize with their EU counterparts the importance of
reiterating this message to the regime. As a final note,
Hajeflerova flagged Czech concerns about environmental
conditions along Burma's western border with India where
flourishing bamboo growth due to the floods could have
deleterious effects on fragile rice crops.
