1. Post delivered demarche to Mrs. Bineshwaree K. Napaul, Second
Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on May 29. Napaul
assured that all points of the demarche were understood and
currently being considered by the Mauritian delegation, and added
that she does not foresee any impediments to prevent Mauritius from
voting in favor of Ambassador Swing. Napaul did admit, however,
that she was the secondary POC on the issue and advised Post to call
back the following week to speak to the primary POC, First
Secretary, Mr. Joker Nayeck.
2. Nayeck, subsequently, contacted Post on his own volition, on June
3, to request another copy of Ambassador Swing's biodata to " have
all of the data when we [Mauritian Foreign Ministry] make a direct
pitch to the decision-maker." Nayeck said he would have an answer
by June 9. Post will pass on any additional updates immediately in
anticipation of the June 18 voting date.
