SUBJECT: DECEMBER 29 REPATRIATION OF 32 HAITIAN MIGRANTS
On December 29, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) transferred 32
Haitian migrants into the custody of the GoH in
Port-au-Prince, Haiti. On December 23, a commercial vessel
reported to the USCG what appeared to be a disabled vessel.
The USCG intercepted the disabled vessel, which was carrying
34 migrants, 32 Haitian and 2 Jamaican nationals, 38 nautical
miles east of Fort Pierce, Florida. The USCG processed the 2
Jamaican nationals for return to Jamaica separately.
