Ambassador raised reftel points on Kosovo February 20 with
Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis, asking that the
Government of Haiti promptly grant diplomatic recognition to
the independent state of Kosovo, and emphasizing that the
Ahtissari Plan represents the best way forward for Kosovo and
the region. Ambassador also emphasized the gathering wave of
European Union and other states that have already recognized
Kosovo. The Prime Minister said he could not make such a
commitment for the Government of Haiti, but would raise the
issue with President Preval.
