(S) Poloffs delivered reftel demarche September 11 to Franck
Gellet, MFA DAS-equivalent for Iran, Amb. Xavier Rose,
Inter-ministerial Coordinator for Iraqi Reconstruction, and
Arnaud Pescheux, desk officer for Iran. Gellet agreed that
the sale should be prevented and accepted the non-paper for
action. He asked whether the Department had any information
on the timing of the intended delivery, and also asked that
the demarche be repeated to appropriate French security
services via other channels. Post will follow-up and report
any further substantive developments.
