LEADERS MEETING SEPTEMBER 25

1. (SBU) Due to the Government of the Republic of Suriname
having provided Post with a response of "no confirmed
attendees as of yet" despite several daily follow-up calls to
Ambassador Frederick Boekstaff, Chief of Protocol at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PolEcon Chief reviewed with
Terence Craig, Head of the Americas Division of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, the agenda items for the September 25
CARICOM Leaders Meeting with Secretary Rice.
2. (SBU) Craig said he is not sure who, besides possibly
Henry MacDonald, the Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of
the Republic of Suriname to the United Nations, might attend
the meeting but will pass the word to the International
Organization Office of the MFA in hopes that the list or
agenda items would make it to the appropriate attendee/s.
3. (SBU) Post will report in separate telegram President
Venetiaan's plan to attend when/if confirmed.
