SUBJECT: INFORMATION TO CRITERIA APPLIED TO RECOGNIZING PRIVILEGES
AND IMMUNITIES OF MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY

(1) Embassy Paramaribo received a diplomatic note from the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs with the following clarification on issues
mentioned in paragraph 8 of State 14282:
(2) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname normally recognizes,
besides children under the age of 18 years, parents and father-
and/or mother-in-law as dependants of the foreign staff member. In
specific instances and depending on the case to sole discretion of
the Suriname authorities an exception can be made as to the age of
dependant children or any other specific situation.
(3) Suriname in general does apply reciprocity in recognizing
"members of the family" forming part of the household.
