(C) On December 15, Ambassador Jackson, accompanied by PolOff,
delivered reftel demarche to Mr. Bedouma Alain Yoda, the Minister of
Foreign Affairs and three members of his staff. Yoda said he
understood the need for international consensus on the Annapolis
process and expressed a strong desire to support ongoing peaceful
negotiations between Israel and Palestine. Yoda said he and his
staff would study the draft resolution and discuss it with the
Permanent mission in New York before announcing their official
position. Yoda promised to keep the U.S. informed of Burkina Faso's
position on the draft resolution, either in Ouagadougou or in New
York as appropriate and in advance of the December 16th vote.
