(C) On December 1, PolOff delivered reftel demarche to Mr. Issa Soma,
the acting director of Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (MOFA). Soma said he fully understood the dilemma
the U.S. presented and commented that the question of whether to
support the resolutions discussed in reftel was a political question
that he could not adequately address at his level. However, Soma
said he would discuss the issue with his superiors and invited the
U.S. mission to the U.N. to discuss draft resolutions with the
Burkina Faso's permanent mission. Finally, Soma said that Burkina
Faso wants, above all, for the Palestinians, Israelis, and others
groups involved, to live in harmony and to be treated equally by the
international community.
