1. (C) On June 25, Department of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade (DFAIT) NATO Officer David Hutchison
expressed appreciation for reftel demarche and remarked that
it looked like something Canada would want to do. Hutchison
promised to seek approval to convey the talking points to
Minister Emerson, who was already in Kyoto for the June 26 -
27 G8 Foreign Ministers' meeting.
2. (C/NF) Hutchison (protect) then suggested that, rather
than wait for his agency to clear and convey the points to
his minister at this late date, U.S. officials should
consider double-tracking them in Kyoto via PolDir Colleen
Swords.
