1. (C) In response to reftel demarche, Department of Foreign
Affairs and International Trade Deputy Director for
Counterterrorism Yves Beaulieu confirmed on February 19 that
Canada had also received the text of the Greek proposal that
tries to bridge the OIC position with that of the U.S. and
like-minded governments. He said that Canada will also wait
until the OIC puts something forward before acting. Beaulieu
said that our heads of delegation have discussed the issue
and urged us to stay in close contact as the issue plays out.
