(SBU) POLOFF informed the legal department of the MFA of the E.O. 13382 designations contai ned in reftel. Assets of these entities have already been frozen by the GON. Jo Hoevik, Senior Advisor in the legal department, explained how Norwegian asset freeze provisions function. UNSCR 1737 is incorporated into Norwegian regulation number FOR-2007-02-09-149. An list of entities whose assets are frozen is attached to this regulation, and is updated when they are added to the UNSCUR 1737 list. The attached list is forwarded to the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (FSAN) each time it is updated. The FSAN in turn sends the list to financial institutions, which are obligated to comply. WHITNEY
