SUBJECT: CHAD: RESPONSE TO GUANTANAMO CASE
1. On May 15, the MFA sent a diplomatic note to the Embassy
requesting the release of alleged Chadian national currently
under DOD control at Guantanamo. Paragraph 2 contains the
summary of the note. Post will pouch a copy of the note in
French to Department.
2. Begin text of diplomatic note: The Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of Chad presents its complements to
the Embassy of the United States of America in N'djamena and
in response to note number 383, dated 04 December 2007, has
the honor to confirm the information contained in the note
number 321, dated 05 November 2007, concerning the detention
of Chadian citizen Mr. MOHAMED ALGHARANI in the prison camp
of Guantanamo.
The Minister therefore asks the Embassy of the U.S. to
intercede with the competent authorities of your country to
obtain his release without delay.
In thanking the Embassy of the United States for its kind
attention, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes this
opportunity to renew the assurances of his highest
